David Oscar Vandergriff
David Oscar Vandergriff died Sunday, Feb. 18, at his home in Medina. He was born Nov, 2, 1938 to Beulah Brotbeck and James Vandergriff.
He is survived by his wife, Elinor A. Vandergriff, two Children, Jane E. Vandergriff of Center Point, and John D. Vandergriff of Medina and three grandchildren, Vanessa J. Von Dohlen, Robert R. Von Dohlen, and Christina N. Von Dohlen of Center Point.
Mr. Vandergriff graduated from Baylor Military School in Chattanooga, Tenn. in 1956 and then attended the University of Chattanooga. He married Elinor A. Gill Nov. 2, 1957 and they moved to Texas in 1962. After spending several years in the finance business, Mr. Vandergriff spent later years as fleet and lease manager of various automobile dealerships in Houston.
David and Elinor Vandergriff moved to Medina in July, 2000, and became members of the Medina United Methodist Church. Before he became ill, David enjoyed doing volunteer work for the community. His passion for the outdoors, yard work, and various home improvement projects filled most of his days. David was always a very loving and devoted man to his wife and family.
Funeral services were held on Wednesday, Feb. 21, at 10 a.m. at the Medina United Methodist Church with Reverend Bill Stegemueller officiating and vocalist Anna Stegemueller.
Interment followed at Oak Rest Cemetery in Medina. The family requests memorials be made in David’s name to the Medina United Methodist Church.
